About Us

Bart’s and the London Alpine Club (BLAC) is a group of mountaineers, climbers, scramblers and walkers of all abilities which is reflected in our trips which will have a combination of activities depending on who is coming and what they want to do, from hard climbs to gentle strolls. The diversity and unique skills of our members is something we are very proud of and what keeps the club going from strength to strength.

Whether you’ve summited Everest or never been to zone seven, you should find something to interest you and have lots of fun on an Alpine Trip. We mainly go to the Lake District, Snowdonia, The Peak District, Somerset and Yorkshire and once a year to the beautiful Isle of Skye in Scotland for a week. If you’d like to come and don’t have any kit don’t worry, you don’t need much more than a pair of boots, waterproofs and a warm jumper, as we’ll provide all the climbing gear you need. Anything you don’t have please ask as we have some spares too or someone is bound to be willing to lend you it in exchange for food.

The cost for weekend trips is only £45, which includes transport, food for the whole weekend and accommodation in one of the fine Mountain huts, usually with a gorgeous fire roaring in the grate.

Safety is a top priority at BLAC and no activites will take place unless there are competent members willing to lead them, which there nearly always are.  Have a look at our safety info before you come on a trip. If at any point before, during or after a trip you have questions or concerns do not hesitate to speak to our chair or  our gear and safety secretaries.

Still not sure? Have a read of some experiences from past trips here or watch the film below. Alternatively, come along to one of our socials and meet us and find out more about the trips or the crazy people you’ll be spending a weekend with!

The BMC Participation Statement

“The BMC recognises that climbing, hill walking and mountaineering are activities with a danger of personal injury or death. Participants in these activities should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for their own actions and involvement.”

To book a place on a trip please email alpinetrip@gmail.com and consult the guide to BLAC on this website.
